A play area in Stafford has reopened after undergoing a £130,000 facelift.
New equipment such as toddler multi-play unit, sunken trampoline, along with swings and see saws, are now available for the community at Yelverton Park in the Baswich area of the town. And a range of existing facilities are being refurbished including a junior multi-play unit and net spinner.
Further improvements will see a new seating area and picnic benches installed, a circular walkway around the park boundary, and an additional footpath running through the centre.
Work on the play facilities was completed recently and has been financed by money Stafford Borough Council received from developers as part of house building on the former police headquarters in the area.
The play facility which is off Yelverton Avenue was last refurbished in 1996.
Councillor Gillian Pardesi, Cabinet Member for Leisure at the council, said she was pleased they had delivered another scheme for families.
“This has always been a popular park - especially with the younger members of the community - but desperately needed upgrading to keep attracting our young people and families to enjoy outdoor play, leisure and relaxation.
“The council has an excellent track record of delivering some great parks across the borough so I am really pleased we have improved yet another park, which residents can continue to enjoy and be proud of, using the contribution we received as part of developments in the area.”
Less than 12 months ago the borough council officially opened Westbridge Park in Stone following a major £1.5m transformation.
