Runners getting ready, steady, go for Stafford 10K

Freedom Leisure, organiser of Stafford 10K on behalf of Stafford Borough Council, is expecting a bumper field when this very popular road race event goes ahead again in 2023 on Sunday 24 September.

Stafford 10K, which raises thousands of pounds for charity, has been part of the local sporting calendar since 2016 and even though registration has only been open a matter of weeks, nearly 400 runners have already snapped up their place to take part in the event this year.

Stafford 10K suits runners (and joggers) of all ages and abilities with enthusiastic crowds lining the streets of Stafford cheering on participants as they make their way to the finish line just outside the town’s award-winning Victoria Park.

Councillor Gillian Pardesi, Cabinet Member for Leisure at the borough council, said: “The Stafford 10k has proved to be a popular addition to the town’s sporting calendar and it is great to see that so many people have already registered for the event.

Many of those taking part will be running to raise money for various charities and I hope people will turn out on the day to cheer them along - as well as soak up the tremendous atmosphere the event brings to the area.

I am sure the support from friends and family will help the runners make it to the finish line.”

The race village is situated in Victoria Park with plenty of stalls, including food and drink, for runners and spectators.

Freedom Leisure’s event organiser Laura Morris said: “The amazing Stafford community will be out in force again to cheer all the runners on the 10km route. We know what this race means to runners that train for months. We’re looking forward to another memorable day in our beautiful county town.”
