Primary School launches town's Poppy Appeal

Children from Castlechurch help to launch annual appeal.

POPPY LAUNCH 23 FOR STAFFORD

Castlechurch Primary School hosted the Royal British Legion Poppy launch for 2023 in Stafford borough.

This event was organised by a friend of Castlechurch, Paul Milgate-Scarrott, in partnership with the school's senior teacher, Mrs Jo Cranwell.

The children were joined by The Lord Lieutenant (representing King Charles) The Mayor and Mayoress of Stafford, The Watchman, the Army, the Police, the Fire service, The Prince's Trust and the local community, and officers from the Borough Council.

All children took part in a service and respected a minute's silence introduced by band bugler, Nathan Fletcher.

They took a moment to remember the local children who died in a house fire on The Highfields estate, and will plant a tree in their memory. The trees were donated by Iforce Stafford, along with a gift for the winners of the colouring competition.

It all comes as Stafford FM presenter, photographer and charity fundraiser, Paul Milgate-Scarrott, is also celebrating his 50th year of fundraising.

Jo Cranwell Commented:

"The children made us very proud, we pride ourselves on being a community school with the children being at the heart of everything we do."

Poppies will be on sale at dozens of local shops, local businesses and schools across Stafford over the next 3 weeks.
