Remembering former Signal Radio presenter Mel Scholes

Today my thoughts turn to one of the greats. Remembering legendary Signal Radio presenter Mel Scholes. It's 19 years ago since we lost Mel back on 6 July 2004. Mel Scholes, who had been the compere and comedian at Jollees Variety club in Longton up until its closure in 1981, was one of the most popular DJs in those early years. On 4 July 1989, Mel was broadcasting live from Los Angles USA to celebrate American Independence Day on Signal Radio. We had many great times working together. I remember the gigs we did with the Signal Roadshow, especially those in Stafford at GEC Stychfields and the Universal Club in Doxey. He was wonderful to work, I learned at lot from him, he was a top class all round entertainer and very funny!

Greatly missed, but what fantastic memories.
